On our March 18, 2012, Volunteer Trail Day we completed the Riverside-Campground Loop. The loop itself is 3/4 mile, but access from the Riverside Trail Head makes it about 0.9 mile.
The loop connects Campgrounds 1 and 2 to the Riverside Trail 0.15 mile upriver from the Riverside Trail Head, AND near Bridge 3, about 0.4 mile from the Observation Tower.
The trail is marked with blue blazes: rectangles for the main trail and diamonds for the spur trail. Non-campers should hike the loop beginning at the Riverside Trail Head.
If you would like to volunteer time during the week and work on beautification and construction projects at the park, email volunteer@bendfriend.com for details.
Hiking Trails
Volunteer Trail Days are usually every fourth Saturday, except in Nov and Dec. We've also had 'floating' Trail Days for the past couple months. Our Adopt-A-Trail program is an on-your-own-time opportunity to keep a section of trail pleasant to hike.
Mountain Bike Trails
The Muddy Spokes committee has flagged 12-13 miles of MTB trail, and they're awaiting review by GA DNR. If you or someone you know is a mountain bike rider, we will soon need volunteers to build and maintain the trails.
Horseback Trails
Equestrian Trails are being scouted. To assist our experts, contact friendsofchattahoocheebend@gmail.com.
Join a Committee and take on more responsibility for Friends activities inside – and outside – the park.
Here's a List of Committees.
Then email friendsofchattahoocheebend@gmail.com with your choice(s). Please state what you would like to do for the Committee(s) and how your talents, skills and knowledge apply.
